Yes, I’m one of those “goal-oriented” people who makes new goals OR new resolutions every new year. Don’t hold it against me, it’s in my DNA. I grew up with goals and if I didn’t have any my Dad would remind me to get some! Last year one of my professional goals was to start a MasterMind group made up of Realtors/Brokers based in Danville. The idea was to have like-minded professional colleagues that I KNOW, LIKE, and TRUST. We would share our listings, coming-soons, pocket-listings (those not on MLS yet) and Buyer needs. Collaboration was what I wanted to achieve; problem solve, and share “BEST PRACTICES”. My thought was 10 minds in the room can accomplish more than just one mind sitting alone in her office. Plus I get my ENERGY from others, I’m a collaborator by nature. I need to be around people!
So I floated the idea out to potential “Charter members” and within a few weeks I had a confirmed group – January 2017 was our first meeting. It was REAL!
ENERGY – BUZZ – EXCITIMENT – SHARING – COLLABORATION…
“Who’s got something coming up in walking distance to SRVHS?” I have a client who wants a 4 bedroom with a pool and privacy in Sycamore”. “I’ve got a single level in Blackhawk” “I am looking for a townhome around 600K” – the list of Buyer Wants and Needs along with Listings had launched!!
Goals are good but a COMMITMENT signifies it will get completed no matter what!
He explained the difference between a goal and commitment. A goal is something you strive for but may fall short. A commitment is something that you will do whatever it takes to complete. For example your child gets slide-tackled at a soccer game and looks as though her leg might be broken. What do you do? Get her to the hospital, right! Whatever it takes. But the hospital is a long ways away and you rode your bike to the game. Does that stop you? NO! Nothing will stop you. That is a commitment.
Jim for defining Commitment to the group and serving as the self-appointment scribe of the group. With the most experience in the group he brings a lot of wisdom and insight.
Andrew Thank you for the alternative Health Care referral that allowed me to save thousands of dollars in 2017 as well as your Irish perspective and work ethic.
